Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

For the week beginning 11th August

The Aquarius Lunar Eclipse

LEO

It could be very easy for our lions to be drawn back into the past but by using the courage they are renowned for this eclipse provides the impetus to see things in a new light and make some sweeping changes.

VIRGO

Mercury’s movement into your sign and in close proximity to Venus and Saturn has you taking things very seriously. Your thoroughness and an eye for detail have you capable of the most difficult tasks. Use this time productively.

LIBRA

Not a particularly social time, you are more than happy not sharing your thoughts this week and keeping out of the public eye. You have a few issues you need to contemplate and need time out to do so.

SCORPIO

With the Moon hitting on Pluto during the start of the week emotions intensify and you may find yourself overreacting to a situation that really needs a calm level head. Try not to take things so personally.

SAGITTARIUS

Your strong sense of duty is attracting all the right people at the moment so once you have given due consideration to the practicalities and have formulated exactly what it is you require it could well be within budget.

CAPRICORN

With the Venus, Saturn conjunction at the moment you may be feeling restricted or curtailed by the commitments you have made. A little self-control now will benefit those future plans. Worth

AQUARIUS

This Lunar Eclipse is especially sensitive for you falling as it does across the Leo/Aquarius axis. The Sun and Moon teaming up with Uranus and Neptune will see life becoming unpredictable and chaotic. From this change will occur.

PISCES

Straddling your 12th and 6th houses this Lunar Eclipse increases not only your sensitivity but also your receptive powers. Use this time to rid yourself of those illusions and delusions that are not beneficial for your mental or physical health.

ARIES

Mars is saying goodbye to the unpredictable Uranus but before you become too complacent he is squaring up to the forceful Pluto. Constructively used gives strength and endurance, negatively obsessions and ruthlessness. What will it be?

TAURUS

As Venus closes in on Saturn those Taureans experiencing difficulties in their love relationships now have to face up to the stark reality of separation. A sense of duty is no reason to continue in an unfulfilling relationship.

GEMINI

A sense of obligation hinders your ability to truly express yourself this week particularly on the home front. Parental responsibilities or expectations could be the cause of this so proceed with some caution.

CANCER

With the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse straddling your Solar 2nd and 8th houses of personal and shared resources you have a good chance of increasing your awareness regarding financial matters.

THE AQUARIUS LUNAR ECLIPSE

This eclipse on Sunday 17th August at 7.17am AEST involves the Leo and Aquarius polarities, which means integrating the personal ego with a group or social cause. It means opening our heart to a bigger, wider collective living not just preaching our humanitarianism.

This is particularly pertinent as Neptune, the planet that dissolves boundaries and enhances our awareness of the oneness of all life, conjuncts the Moon as well as opposing the Sun. In some cultures the Sun symbolises our logical and analytical or left-brain function while the Moon represents the more intuitive or right brain function.

During a Lunar Eclipse the Moon takes precedence over the Sun if your like, symbolically signifying an increase in volume of our intuition and less rational functioning or our right brain, while turning down the volume of our left more rational side.  Combined with Neptune our empathy and feeling of connectedness to everything else in existence is amplified and when used consciously allows us to tune into or glimpse that part of us that is universal and unbounded.

Use this time to meditate, contemplate, commune with nature, anything that takes you out of your self whether this be art, dance or music. Allow yourself to let go of the personal and experience those universal feelings that reside deep within all of us.

Rudhyar’s Sabian Symbol for this eclipse

25 degrees Leo – a large camel is seen crossing a vast and forbidding desert

25 degrees Aquarius – a butterfly with the right wing more perfectly formed.
