Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

For the week beginning 18 May

New Moon at 3 Gemini 28

GEMINI

The Sun makes his annual ingress into your sign on Thursday and you may well feel like you have stepped out of the dark into the light. After a period of hibernation our twins are set for a bit of socialising.

CANCER

Sunday’s New Moon falls in your solar 12th house and you may feel the urge to escape from it all, withdrawing into your shell. Introspection is the name of the game, meditation will help clear and rejuvenate.

LEO

Towards the end of the week a problem at work could have you seeking the advice of your associates. Continue to work on the advice you are given for it will be a few weeks yet till all becomes clear.

VIRGO

Mercury’s backward movement into your solar ninth house is a great time to study or revise the work you have already completed. You are able to focus on the job at hand discovering things that were missed.

LIBRA

You may be overly concerned with the impression you make and need to approach things more realistically as this self-inflicted perfectionism will wreck havoc with your self-esteem. Ease up on yourself.

SCORPIO

You may have to draw on all your powers of diplomacy this week to extricate yourself from a situation that arises. You don’t want to create any long-term ill will so avoid power struggles.

SAGITTARIUS

Try to avoid making grandiose statements that when asked to prove could leave you with egg on your face. It is OK to embellish a story as long as everyone is aware that that is what it is, a story.

CAPRICORN

You would do well to remember that not everyone has the same philosophical beliefs that you do. We all have the right to form our own opinions and attitudes so relax and enjoy and don’t be so defensive.

AQUARIUS

Take the initiative this week and start planning those home renovations you have had on your mind. You have been thinking about it for some time so put thoughts into action and start the legwork.

PISCES

It is hard to get a handle on your thoughts this week as confusion reigns supreme. At times like this it is best to leave all but the most pressing issues in the too hard basket and get to them later.

ARIES

Energy levels could border on the excessive so make sure this is channelled into a productive project. Failing that sport and exercise will take the edge off and your competitive streak is high.

TAURUS

You are going to need to set some limits this week otherwise there may be those that will take advantage. Forestall this by setting things in place and not taking a wait and see attitude.

NEW MOON at 3 GEMINI 28

This month’s Gemini New Moon falls on Sunday at 10.10pm and as with any New Moon is a time that promotes all forms of growth and is a great time for new beginnings. Gemini, an Air sign, enhances our social skills, makes us question and raises our awareness of having options by listening and learning from others.

Mercury, the messenger of the Gods, rules Gemini (also Virgo) and this New Moon has him teaming up with the conjunctions of Chiron the wounded healer, Jupiter planet of expansion and opportunity and the mystical Neptune. Any conjunction represents the start of a new cycle and when we consider it takes 57-80 years for Chiron and Neptune to join at the hip and then throw in the lightening bolt effect of Uranus, we have a great big mixing pot with a common denominator.

Communication is a major key word for Mercury and in our current global economic circumstances there are very few individuals who have been unaffected by the downturn. Increasing awareness and understanding of new possibilities and perspectives facilitates true collaboration and community participation.

When transformation is afoot you can expect Pluto to figure in the equation and with the New Moon aspecting the God of the Underworld we would do well to remember the negative effects of power plays or struggles and the need for adjustments.
