November snapshots by sign
SCORPIO
The square from Saturn to Pluto all month can either bring the tenacity and toughness to accomplish the most difficult of tasks, particularly those that require the maximum effort and self-discipline, or it can be a self-destructive energy that encourages the use of force to bring about purely egotistical aims. Either way don’t expect overnight success. The New Moon in your sign on the 17th empowers the elimination of old baggage and warns not to become embroiled in power struggles.
SAGITTARIUS
Thoughts and ideas will be swirling in your mind for the first few weeks of November but you are not yet ready to share them. Once Mercury moves into your sign on the 16th you gain more confidence and a willingness to bring things into the open particularly as the Sun God makes his annual visit from the 22nd. Use the month to plan ahead and move forward particularly if contracts that have been held up now come to pass. Remember to keep your feet on the ground.
CAPRICORN
Your organisational abilities are unequaled but do try to avoid being so controlling that others feel they are in a straight jacket. It could be perceived as a cold-hearted attempt to get what you want by any means possible. You may find that by encouraging participation you will achieve the same outcome only you will have earned respect and appreciation instead of ill will. When an accomplishment is gained through communal support the satisfaction gained has a more enduring effect.
AQUARIUS
The start of the month may see you having to adjust to some financial pressure, be sure to make a realistic assessment of the possibilities. By mid month a sudden turn of events has you feeling far more optimistic but it is here that care should be taken, as you may be prone to impulse spending, thinking you are over the worst. A new and exciting relationship may have you reaching into your pockets and spending big on entertainment. This is not necessary.
PISCES
Neptune, who goes direct on the 5th after five months of retrograde movement, likes nothing better than to demand a sacrifice of us. Learning to let go whether this be an idealised image of how a relationship should be or an inner attitude towards ourselves can now be made easier after months of reflection. When the Gods of Love and Selfless Love combine as at the beginning of the month a difficult realisation of ideals and wishes may manifest releasing the pleasure in freedom.
ARIES
Try not to allow words spoken in haste precipitate hasty action particularly in your relationship area. There may be a tendency to take out ill humour on your loved ones and this will certainly not be appreciated. It could also get quite out of hand, blown out of all proportion so it would be much wiser to think before you act and perhaps give some thought to the repercussions. Easier said than done particularly with Mars in Leo where pride becomes a major factor.
TAURUS
Work relationships are enhanced but do try and avoid any sort of romantic liaison, as a passing fancy tends to have more consequences. Remember work and play generally don’t make a good mix. The Full Moon in your sign on the 3rd is a powerful time giving the ability to perceive where you have come from and where you are headed. Falling across your solar first and seventh houses squaring Mars the highlight will be on combining your own needs with that of the relationship, acting for the good of both.
GEMINI
A marked difference in attitude from the beginning of the month to the middle and end of the month. Mercury in Scorpio has you brooding over imagined slights from co-workers which could stem from what you think was said and not what was actually communicated. Perhaps it would be better to confirm rather than jump to conclusions. As the month progresses it becomes easier to talk about your experiences so make sure those internal struggles are aired.
CANCER
For our family oriented Cancerians you can make this a rather social month if you wish by combining family commitments with catching up with your friends in a likewise situation. This can be accomplished by hosting a BBQ or engaging in activities that are enjoyable to both adults and children. Those that are unattached may like to think about taking more emotional risks in your friendships cultivating those whose company you enjoy and share similar interests.
LEO
Family and parents are taking up a lot of your time and energy and although you don’t begrudge this you feel your time can be better spent. Turn your attention to what can be done around the home, those things that only you can do for once that is accomplished it will free you up to get on with more pleasurable pursuits. Once the Sun enters your Solar 5th house towards the end of the month you will appreciate the effort made, as you are now free to do what you want.
VIRGO
There is ease in communication and a good line of information available to you at the start of the month so use this to your advantage in voicing your opinions and views. You may not be ready to listen to anyone else’s opinion just yet so make sure you keep an open mind. Mercury moving into the more expansive Jupiter on the 16th allows for a broader picture and outlook to develop. Mercury in this sign likes nothing better than to debate and pontificate, usually in a rather long winded manner.
LIBRA
Venus in your sign for the first part of the month ensures the need for social contact and engagements. Venus is also about beauty and this is a great time to revamp yourself by visiting the beauticians, hairdresser or booking in for a relaxing massage. Try to keep within your budget though for when Venus visits your solar second house of finances on the eighth and into the sign of Scorpio that feel good experience could quickly turn into guilt at the wastefulness of it all.
All Full Moons represent a culmination and turning point from what has been gestating since the last New Moon (18th Oct Libra). With the Moon at her maximum fullness we have enough light to see our way forward or to recognise what may be hindering us. We are ready for change.
Where the Sun is at 11 degrees Scorpio in your horoscope is the area of life where you are being called to eliminate those inessentials that can crowd and overwhelm, distracting from the area of intention. The moon at 11 degrees Taurus is where you need to consider a more down to earth approach with a focus on the practicalities that allow the appreciation of life’s stable joys.
Mercury in Scorpio, whispering in the ear of our solar light ensures that any conversation takes on a deep and meaningful tone that is not satisfied with encounters that are bright and breezy. For some the intensity may be quite overwhelming but for others the penetrating insights that are gained by delving beneath the surface, to those deep subterranean issues may experience the more cleansing and cathartic effects.
Mars, our God of War squares this month’s Full Moon, which will certainly add some spice and flavour to our encounters. Tempers may flair and you may find it very hard not to become embroiled in arguments or disagreements. Constructive heated discussion is the way to handle this combination although those of a fiery nature, particular our Lions, may fly off the handle at the least provocation.
The Venus/Uranus combination ensures contrariness to relationships, a not wanting to conform, to break the mold and hang the consequences. With the other planetary patterns happening care should be taken not only on what you say but the tone in which it is said as a situation can soon turn aggressive or ugly.
Positively there is the courage to stand up and fight, to overcome difficulties with the impetus to make those changes by coming up with new alternatives. With Neptune, the mythic God of the Sea turning direct after five months of retrograde movement that inner voice can guide us.

NEW MOON at 24 SCORPIO 34 mins 17 November 2009
With the last Full Moon persuading us to direct ourselves towards satisfactions, which are deeper than those of material pleasures, the New Moon on Tuesday 17th helps us touch our psychological and sexual energies as well as those energies of the universe.
New Moons give us a chance at a new beginning and sometimes that can be a recognition and acceptance of the shadow side of our nature. All living organisms or even inanimate objects give off a shadow and often it is this very shadow that we sometimes seek when trying to escape the Sun’s rays. Some shadows conceal more than others and an unwary visitor can often be surprised at just what lurks in the depths of darkness.
This is, of course ,Pluto’s domain, ruler of Scorpio and the Underworld. To the ancients Taurus and Scorpio were connected to light and darkness with the Pleiades constellation rising in Taurus and setting 6 months later in Scorpio. This became associated with light and darkness, conscious and unconscious, birth and rebirth.
Mercury’s movement from the intense Scorpio to the more relaxed freedom loving Sagittarius, in conjunction with the New Moon may help us to release those feelings and instincts rather than repress them. No other sign is more aware of or more comfortable with the shadow side of life, which is why they have the willpower to suppress their thoughts and emotions rather than communicate them. This of course allows things to fester creating emotional ill health with physical repercussions.
The exact square between Saturn and Pluto harnesses tenacity and toughness giving the ability to perform the most difficult work with extreme self- discipline. It can also give the tendency to make one hard and unfeeling taking a rather cold-hearted approach.
Turning over a new leaf may be a struggle and need a lot of hard work but as long as things are kept in perspective success is more than achievable. Mars applying to the opposition with Jupiter likes to make mountains out of molehills and has a tendency for premature action.
Keeping these things in mind this New Moon urges us to penetrate our fears and phobias discovering a newfound freedom that is released from pent up thoughts, feelings and emotions.

COSMOS
SUN
The Sun’s movement into Sagittarius on the 22nd heralds a 30-day period much lighter than the preceding month. Generally this interval sandwiched between the two earnest, serious-minded, striving signs of Scorpio and Capricorn, is more optimistic, cheerful and lighthearted. The Sun now enters a fire sign a much more compatible element with our solar light, encouraging us to experience a more conscious and extroverted energy. This ninth sign of the zodiac inspires us to broaden our field of existence whether through education or travel.
MERCURY
Mercury appears in the heavens at twilight and like the trickster Hermes sometimes appears to hide. This is particularly true when in the sign of Scorpio where he resides till the 16th when quite a bit of caution is applied where is seems safer not to give too much away. When entering Sagittarius we see a right brain emphasis associated with synthetic and holistic thinking, seeing images and patterns. There is a tendency to look for meaning, sharing beliefs and enthusiasms openly with visions of future possibilities that sometimes have no practical application.
VENUS
Venus is Aphrodite’s domain and is indicative of what turns us on and what we find pleasing or attractive. In the sign of Libra till the 8th value is placed on harmonious and pleasing social skills, a need not to create waves or rock the boat. This changes in Scorpio where the waters become murky with partnerships measured more carefully and may contain hidden agendas. What needs to be given in order to get what one desires? Passionate and intense things heat up where nothing is taken on surface value only.
NEPTUNE
Neptune, the higher octave of Venus goes direct on the 5th after five months of retrograde movement. If Venus rules personal love, Neptune’s domain is agape, or selfless love. The last few months gave us an opportunity to search inwards, an opportunity of not only discovering our blind spots but also our interconnectedness with all things. Neptune is the dissolver of boundaries and blurs concepts so we can experience that much greater reality. In Aquarius reconnecting with like-minded souls is asked of us resulting in a spiritual renewal. |
